Hungry for some delightful Seaweed Fried Multi-Grain Rice? The folks behind the Simple Life outlets embrace a specific “healthy concept”, which means you are guaranteed to be eating natural and organic food containing zero MSG, trans fats, artificial colouring, or preservatives. Serving a whole host of vegetarian dishes, the founders of Simple Life have decided to focus on their “4 core principles of healthy eating”, which means serving foods high in fibre, low in sugar, low in salt and low in oil. Dishes that contain eggs are clearly marked on the menu. While everything served is vegetarian, do ask the staff which options are fully vegan. You can also request for some non-vegan dishes to be made vegan. If you’re a fan of tofu and beancurd, you’ll love what Simple Life has to offer.

Clean eating is the name of the game at The Daily Habit. Serving up a variety of menu items that incorporate the use of superfood ingredients and complex carbs, high quality oils and raw produce, it isn’t hard to fall in love with what they have to offer. With their drinks menu offering an extensive array of blended and cold-pressed juices, and their special gluten free, lactose free and vegan menu throwing out options like Pure Carrot, Tumeric & Ginger Soup, and Mango & Chia Pudding, expect fresh and flavourful meals at this cafe. Their dishes range from simple rice-and-vegetable combinations to saucy and flavoursome noodle dishes. Expect an explosion of great taste with every bite at The Origin!

Ashley’s by LivingFood
The honest, healthy and nutritious food of Ashley’s definitely warrants a mention on this list. The restaurant caters to all, with everything from raw vegan dishes to meat platters (don’t worry - the meat is prepared in a separate area of the kitchen!). Each ingredient is chosen for its flavour, quality, and most importantly, nutrition. Whether it's the burger buns made with in-house ground flour and cholesterol-regulating fermented rice yeast, or the homemade baked beans painstakingly sprouted by the chefs to retain their nutrients, the care that the team puts into each plate is clear to see. As for the vegan dishes, we highly recommend the Living Pulled Eggplant - smoky marinated eggplant prepared at below 42°C, stuffed with a rich nut cream and perched atop a flaxseed cracker. For dessert, their Salty Apple Caramel Gateaux is to die for!

Finding vegan food options in bustling KL is not as impossible as you think!

Sometimes, it can be hard to research vegan food options in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur, especially if you don’t know where to look. Of course, that’s not to say the entire city is completely un-vegan-friendly. While many restaurants, cafes and food outlets might not fully cater to the plant-based foodie, there are still options on their menus that you’ll be able to consume. Many vegetarian restaurants are happy to substitute ingredients and provide completely vegan options for those who are selective and adverse toward animal products.
