Towering above the very heart of Jakarta, Salt Grill by celebrity chef Luke Mangan sets a new level of dining experience in town.
Up on the 46th floor of one of the most prestigious buildings in Jakarta, Altitude offers multiple dining options. One of them with some romantic seatings facing the million dollar Hotel Indonesia Roundabout – better known as “Bundaran HI” – and its mighty fountain is Salt Grill by Australian celebrity chef Luke Mangan.
First, this is not just a “style over substance” restaurant. Service – from making reservation, reception, to table waiting – is done in friendly, speedy, capable, and effective manner. While the place looks gorgeous, atmosphere is quite casual, and nothing feels uptight.
The food is Mod Oz – modern Australian – that puts a wide variety of cooking styles in a combined technique to present a fusion menu that is still easy to understand, digest, and enjoy. The sophistication lies in its simplicity, fresh produce, and unique ingredients.
The grill section includes Campbell grass-fed tenderloin, Moroccan-spiced sirloin, free range baby chicken, and 150 daygrain fed wagyu ribeye. For white meat, don’t miss the luscious Tasmanian salmon that comes with yabbie tails, vanilla, and chervil dressing. The baked barramundi smells and tastes very fresh, and served with olives and preserved lemon. Slow cooked Kurobuta pork belly bathed in red wine sauce is everybody’s favorite.
Portions are generous. There are also Salt Bush lamb, rib eye, fish, and char grilled chicken for sharing. Tapas available for light biters, ranging from pork and pistachio terrine, duck sliders, king fish with avocado mousse, to chicken liver parfait. Meanwhile, connoisseurs can go for the six-courses degustation option with wine pairing.
The taste is excellent, the view is by far the best in the city, and the service is flawless. Salt Grill at Altitude is great dine out option be it for romantic or social functions, or to stylishly impress business partners.
