What is real hunger like?

Initially, real hunger can manifest in a growling tummy, a hollow feeling in the stomach, salivation, and a tightening of the throat..
These signs disappear after about 20 minutes, then return in waves of increasing intensity two or three times. It gradually rises till we eat, after which the hunger pangs calm down.
This is often the reverse with emotional hunger.
