Do mosquitoes only prefer to bite certain people?

Are you always the only one to be attacked by this pesky insect? Well that might just be normal.

Where there’s heat, mosquitoes will definitely be somewhere to be found. While there’s no need to necessarily alarmed, it remains crucial that you be vigilant of the pesky insects as they are capable of carrying diseases transmissible to humans by a simple prick.

Why do mosquitoes like you?

Whenever there are mosquitoes in the room, are you always the first to be ‘attacked’?

Well, these insects are after all first attracted by the carbon dioxide we exhale. They are also sensitive to the heat generated by the body, and especially to certain compounds produced during perspiration. Hence our natural odour, that’s largely determined by genetics, would also make us prey to mosquitoes – nothing to do with the level of sugar in the blood at all.

Researchers have also demonstrated that mosquitoes found pregnant women (their body temperature is higher) and people who have recently drunk alcohol far more attractive prey. So you’ve been warned!
