Why should we ban trans fats?

updated the 14 July 2015 à 18:30

As the cause of heart and liver problems, trans fats are to be eliminated from our diet, except in certain cases.

Produced by the partial hydrogenation of vegetable oils in industrial processes, these compounds are known to promote metabolic syndrome, heart problems, and contribute to the formation of fatty liver (steatosis). While it is strongly recommended to avoid the broad family of trans fats, they are also present in some unprocessed foods, especially of animal origin.

The solution is to give up on industrial goods that are marked hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated vegetable oils.
