Annual Performance Review: Be firm in your stand
updated the 12 June 2014 à 23:47Do not be lazy! Learn to be firm when making your point at all times, and especially during your annual meeting. State your goals, and fulfill your ambitions.
The question of your future in the company is the main point of the performance review. The manager is not asking you to produce a crystal ball to detail your situation in ten years, down to the height of your heels; he or she simply wants to know about your evolution as a worker. An employee who is not progressing is just waiting to be evicted from his position sooner or later. “Everyone has an engine that drives them, which is the desire for a challenge, and the need for recognition or visibility. The art of the interview is to bring out what motivates an employee, his qualities and his skills. He has the right not to want to change the hierarchy, because when he leaves to enter some sort of managerial position, the heart of the trade is lost,” states Hervé Aulner. “However, he may well evolve in multiple responsibilities to further develop and practice what he loves to do.” Evolution, it is part of the evaluation.
