Just Not Sorry: New Chrome app helps you stop apologising

If you’re tired of saying “I’m sorry” one too many times in your emails but can’t seem to kick the habit, here’s an app to help you out.

Are you drafting an email right about now? Well, before you hit send, step back and scan through. Do you notice a ‘I’m sorry but..’ or ‘Just checking…’ phrase hiding out somewhere in there? If you do, here’s one way to remove those pesky phrases once and for all.

A new Chrome extension, ‘Just Not Sorry’ was created solely to tackle qualifying language that women tend to use in their emails. While this may not be true for everyone and may not even be only for women, the app in itself could be useful.

Created by Tami Reiss and the team at Cyrus Innovation, the app will highlight any of those terms with a separate window that mentions why they would weaken your sentence. Think of it as a spellcheck of sorts for empowering language.

While the app has already been downloaded over 5000 times, some have also argued against it claiming that it’s unnecessary to be overly particular about the way women speak. Well, to each their own. If you’re perfectly comfortable with your style, then carry on what you’re doing. And if you feel like the one-too-many ‘sorrys’ and ‘justs’ need to go then there’s no harm in giving this a whirl.
