The Kissing Report: Why the ‘French’ kiss?

The French kiss is known worldwide! But why does it carry that label? We explain.

It now concerns the vast majority of humanity. And if it only spread in the West in the eighteenth century, it had already been recommended in Chinese texts dating from 200 BC to delay orgasms… Nevertheless – though the French themselves call it is the “profound” kiss – it is known as 100% French worldwide.

Ah, the famous French kiss But where does this name originally come from? The answer lies in British and American soldiers, just after the First World War. Far from paying a tribute, it was at first used as a taunt – shocking stories recounted about their hair-raising erotic experiences, the Anglo-Saxons were laughing at the mysterious French ways.

Too free, devoid of inhibitions, the French culture clashed with their Puritanism marked by a strong divide between romantic aspiration and animal instinct… Since then, things have changed, and the former French exception has become commonplace to express the intense sexual desire in most Hollywood productions.

Even better – on the show Dismissed, MTV made ​​the French kiss the subject of a new concept: in each episode, a teenager is invited to compare two boys before choosing one. And guess what the deciding factor is? So shocking…
