Father’s Day tends to take a back seat as opposed to Mother’s Day, so to make the day a little more thoughtful for the good ol’ man, we have rounded up a list of things to do just to put the brightest smile on his face.

He may be a bit bashful when it comes to lavish display of emotion but we know they absolutely adore a little attention! And though it was difficult to round up a few decent options, we are certain that these will get your dad in high spirits for sure. While it may not be something you particularly enjoy doing but when it comes to Father’s Day, what matters is that your dad has the me of his life and gets to share his joy with the most important people.

1. Watch FIFA 2014

Well, let’s be honest, it’s soccer season and if your dad is just like every other soccer-crazed dad then nothing would make his day than having his family watch FIFA 2014 with him and actually revel in the festivities! Get some chips and salsa ready and spend the time with him screaming at every goal….and miss. Basically we promise a whole lot of screaming but at least you’re doing it together.

2. Have a Movie Night

It’s hard to say no to a movie session – everyone loves them – and when popcorn and soda (or pizza) is involved, no one will move from the living room. Gather everyone, pick out a couple of movies on fatherhood, ranging from comical to tragic to thriller and sprawl out in front of the television in comfort.

3. Go for a bike ride

If your dad taught you all about riding and mastering the two-wheeler, then take a trip down memory lane and head to nearby island, Pulau Ubin to hop back on a bike. Spend the day exploring the island, prepare a picnic or if you rather, savour some of the local delicacies and have a few laughs over dinner! If you’d like to amp up on the bonding, go ahead and have a go at the tandem bike as well.

4. Steak & Whiskey Feast

Man and meat more often than not go well together and if your dad is a whiskey kind of guy then his day has only just begun. Take him out and allow him to indulge in a whole variety of premium steak at CUT or Mortons. After which, satiate his taste buds further with a spot of whiskey or two at the Movenpick Hotel – here he’ll get a selection of free-flow five single malt whiskey and he is bound to be one happy trooper after this!

5. Fishing

If your dad has a patient side to him and would absolutely appreciate the typically calming nature of fishing, then a day trip out for some deep-sea fishing would be his ideal adventure. And when the entire family is game then the trip would be far more splendid, otherwise this could also turn into a sweet little father-daughter or father-son bonding session, while you attempt to reel in a fish or two.
