Chinese New Year: Feng Shui practices for good fortune

• Marie France Asia: Are there any Feng Sui practices you advice to enhance our luck for this year?

David Tong: For 2015, the primary and secondary wealth area is at the North and Southwest sector of every house. If your main door or room is at either of these sectors of the house, do expect some wealth luck this year. If possible, spend more time in the North or Southwest sector of your house so that you will be influenced by this annual positive energy and in turn open up your mind to make more positive decisions that may bring your unexpected wealth. Open up the windows in those sectors, if any. Put a water fountain or fish tank in those sectors to activate the wealth luck.

• MFA: Are there any places considered not so good to be around this year?

David Tong: The negative energy that bring obstacles to career and sickness is at the West and Southeast sector of every house. If your main door is at those sectors of your house, expect more illness and obstacles to career this year. Hang a metal windchime at the main door so that the metal sound will mitigate this negative energy. If your room falls into these sector, it is best to avoid sleeping in that room for this one year. If there is no choice but to use that room as a bedroom, hang a metal windchime at the windows area to mitigate the negative energy. Avoid blasting music or TV loud in this room as this will enhance the negative energy. Keep the room quiet this year.

• MFA: What should one be wary of this year?

David Tong: In Feng Shui, we are “afraid” of renovations, drillings or hacking of any sort. Such actions, if done on an inauspicious direction outside the house or sector inside the house, will bring about extreme negative impact to the house, depending on the direction.

For 2015, in addition to the 2 negative energy sector above, the 3 Killings and Year Breaker energy are in the West and Northeast sector of the house and direction outside the house. These energies are considered to be the most inauspicious energy in Feng Shui and if triggered, will bring about sudden major illnesses, major accidents, bankruptcy or even death. Hence avoid at all cost, all forms of renovations or drilling to these sectors of the house and direction outside the house this year.

For all houses that are facing East, avoid all forms of renovations this year as the entire house is sitting on the 3 Killings and 5 Yellow negative energy. Any forms of renovations this year carries a risk of triggering all the negative energy in the house.
