Other than marveling at the Birkin bags, head over to Hermes’s flagship store for a peek at Korean artist, Ran Hwang’s spectacular exhibition.

Step into any Hermes store and easily we’re greeted with rows of hand-crafted bags – the Birkin in varied finishes of course – silk scarves, exquisite clothes and boundless accessories. It’s a store that’s wall-to-wall, ceiling-to-floor brimming with sheer luxury.

That’s not all an Hermes boutique delivers though. As a reflection of the brand’s dedication to the arts, every now and then you’ll be able to chance upon a remarkable exhibition in-store, thereby offering consumers a tad bit more than just a space for your luxury sprees.

For the next three months for instance, shoppers and visitors alike can look forward to a visually pleasing exhibition, Becoming Again, by Korean artist, Ran Hwang.  By taking the button as her main ingredient in the creative feast, Hwang creates intricate pieces of work that form buildings, cherry blossoms and phoenixes taking flight. In fact, her work could even be seen as a reinterpretation of pointillism – where discrete small dots of colour are used to create paintings.

Viewing the exhibition up close will give you further insight into Hwang’s fixation with the cyclical nature of time, proving that existence is all but a transient phenomenon. Look even closer and you may just be fixated yourself.

Becoming Again by Ran Hwang will be taking place from 7 November 2014 – 31 January 2015 at Hermes, 541 Orchard Road
