With awards season rolling around, heavy prominence is placed on the red carpet arrivals, where the whole world will get to see (and judge!) a multitude of celebrities’ choice of glitz and glamour. Some will look absolutely radiant and stunning, but others will fall short of fashion forward standards in their pursuit of modernity and haute couture.

On the Oscars red carpet this year for the 89th Academy Awards, we’ve seen some especially dubious choices: from Leslie Mann’s parachute-like frock that fails to give her skin any colour, to matronly empire waist silhouettes that only renders a frumpy-dumpy look, check out some of the least flattering looks that left us wondering if the camera angles were bad, or if the dresses themselves were really as unsightly as they seemed.
