While Code:Black Espresso generally opens later in the day (3pm on weekdays, 1pm on weekends), it is worth noting that the folks here shut their doors quite late in the night. In fact, you can stay and enjoy your cuppa well past midnight on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays as they close shop at 1 in the morning. And even on regular weekdays, you can still seek out their pastries and specialty coffees until 11pm. With a great ambiance and even free wi-fi to help you accomplish some late-night work, it’s the spot you want to be when you’re craving a slice of cake or a lip-smacking cappuccino.

Merchant’s Lane 美真林
We’ve featured Merchant’s Lane before, in our recent article on uniquely decorated cafes in Kuala Lumpur. We fell in love with the cafe’s nostalgic interior decor and terrific old school charm. Open until 10pm everyday (except Wednesday), you can definitely surprise your taste buds with a delightful ice cold mocha alongside some Asian-inspired food options like the Ong Bak Tom Yum and Italian Chow Mein, and desserts such as the Kalau Aku Kaya (fried brioche style bread balls served with lemon ice cream and kaya sauce).

Chocha Foodstore
Chocha Foodstore takes old school to a whole new level. Making its home in an old shophouse in Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown district, this foodie paradise is a hybrid between a restaurant, a pop-up coffee bar, a workspace, and an event space. They stay open until 10pm every night (apart from Tuesdays), which is perfect for anyone looking to try some simple casual meals with an Asian twist, as well as some delightful caffeinated brews. Whether you’re visiting this place in the middle of the day or at night, one thing’s for sure: their space will throw you back in time.

Blackwood Cafe
Blackwood Cafe aims to be your home away from home. It aspires to maintain a cosy and comfortable environment to melt away all your stress and unease. It serves as a brilliant little hideout to get your coffee fix and breathe a sigh of relief. Spacious and elegant, with interesting decor and floor-to-ceiling windows, this cafe embraces the colour black, giving off a mysterious vibe. We love that they stay open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. On regular weekdays and Sundays, they’re open until 10:30pm, which isn’t too bad either! Get your fix of their hearty Burger Waffle, or indulge in their Sambal Eggy Toast for a real flavour hit. They’ve got an extensive beverage list too, which includes their Signature Coffee Soda, and Marigold Flower Tea.

Cottle Coffee
A coffee roaster originally from South Melbourne, Cottle Coffee now has their own outlet in Malaysia and are proud to be sharing their love for coffee with us here in Southeast Asia. While they supply coffee beans, barista tools, and the like at Cottle Coffee, the cafe also serves great food and delicious caffeinated drinks. They stay open until 10pm, so you don’t have to rush over after work. Enjoy a refreshing brew of cold drip coffee alongside a slice of Tahini Brownie with Ice Cream! You won’t regret it.

The Parque Cafe
It may be a little out of the ways for some of you, but this gorgeous glasshouse cafe is perhaps wholly worth the journey. A collaborative effort between Coffee Concepts Company and EcoWorld, this beautifully designed, utterly romantic cafe was largely inspired by the success of Palladium Cafe in Johor Bahru. It is a spacious place to sit back and enjoy a cup of specialty coffee while taking in the green surroundings. The place looks downright magical at night!

CHEMISTRY Café + Lab
Ever evolving with their coffee culture, the baristas at the eccentric yet chic CHEMISTRY Café + Lab embraces the whole “science” affair when it comes to their caffeinated beverages and drinks, using cool laboratory apparatus (think conical flasks and the like) instead of normal glasses and cups. Customers will no doubt enjoy the quirky aspects of this wonderfully themed cafe. We absolutely love the place! Their usual opening hours stretch from 11 in the morning to 12 midnight.

League of Captains
As unlikely as it sounds, the concept of this cafe was brought to life by local brand Pestle & Mortar Clothing, which we deem pretty impressive and refreshingly daring. League of Captains aims to live up to their goal of serving up “wholesome meals and kick-ass coffee” while pumping out some great tunes. We can’t say no to that! They’re usually open until 10pm, which gives you more than enough time to kick back and relax with some close mates.

Littlepeople
This cash-only cafe is your one-stop shop for comfort food and good coffee. Open 6 days a week (they’re closed on Tuesdays), the little foodie spot dishes out freshly made pastas, scrumptious brunch offerings, and yummy cakes, not to mention delightful coffees carefully made by their lovely baristas. With a fantastic minimalist aesthetic, Littlepeople is where you should be going to enjoy the little things in life. And yes, they close a little later than most other cafes.
