When in Korea, do as the Koreans do!

Ahhh, Korea – the land of K-pop and Kimchi.  This increasingly popular tourist hotspot has also sparked awe with it’s unique beauty trends and traditions, a notable one of which would be the quintessential Korean bath houses.  Called jjimjilbang by Koreans, bath houses have ingratiated themselves in the Korean way of life. Now we get to the important question:

WHAT EXACTLY ARE BATH HOUSES?

Technically, bath houses are the Korean equivalent of spas, only better! These communal spaces come equipped with more than just hot tubs and massage tables. Think sleeping quarters, lounge areas, exercise rooms and in some occasions, even movie theatres! Jjimjilbangs are especially popular as weekend getaways for Korean families, where they relax and revitalise and get the much needed respite from the hectic and strenuous times. From soothing massages to steam rooms, bath houses are truly the pinnacle of relaxation!

Have we enticed you to pay a visit to Seoul yet? If we have, check out the gallery for our selection of the best Jjimjilbangs in Seoul!
