Winter Weddings: The ‘coolest’ way to tie the knot this 2018

Tropical wedding destinations might be the norm, but here’s why you’ll want a winter wedding this 2018.

Fukushima, Japan

Winter and weddings don’t often go together. The shivering in cold temperatures and less than blue skies make them a questionable affair, but surprise, surprise; there are some perks to hosting your big day in cooler climates.

Why a Winter Wedding is En Vogue this 2018:

  1. No make-up sweats: A make up artist, a hair stylist and hours on end all go into your wedding day. Take one step into the sun and you may find all that hard work sweating off in no time. Less heat means less sweat, less make up removed and less hair frizz. Opt for a location with cooler temperatures, to keep your look fresh all day.
  2. Outdoor weddings are beautiful, but in sunnier climates it is impossible to cool down. (Ever heard of beaches with air conditioning? Me neither.) Go for warmer attire in lower temperatures and you could be basking in the great outdoors on your wedding day with no issues.
  3. Beat that new year drag: The earlier months in the year can move pretty slowly. With little happening in the social calendar post new-year, a winter wedding is the perfect excuse to get partying early. Don’t forget those January sales can help score you killer gifts!
  4. The scenery: It is no secret that some of the most beautiful scenery in Asia is found in countries that host winter months. Think mountainous hilltops, snowy winter gardens and steaming hot springs on cool winter days.

Here in Asia we are blessed with plentiful warmer temperatures, making sunny beaches frequented wedding destinations, but check out the gallery above for some inspiration on cooler places you will want to say ‘I do’ to!
