5 Places to shop in Bangkok

updated the 14 July 2015 à 18:36

Our stylista and columnist Yvette King shares her best spots to bag a great buy in Bangkok, the shopping capital of Southeast Asia.

Bangkok is the place where your shopping dreams are made of. There’s markets, night shopping, cheap and cheerful finds, vintage, local designers, commercial brands, luxury fashion houses and high street stores… Oh my! I think I’m having a fashion seizure! Most recently I explored some of the fabulous retail therapy options available to me in Bangkok and here are my picks:

 The Vintage Store

Bangkok-The Vintage Store

Found in trendy area Thonglor, this pre-loved treasure chest is the first stop. Brands like Chanel, YSL, Chloe and more are found here all in mint condition. Did I mention there is a wall behind the counter full of Hermès delights?

The Vintage Store is located at G Floor, Eight Thonglor Sukhumvit 55 Wattana, Bangkok, Thailand 10110.

Siam Centre

Local Thai designers call this trendy shopping mall home. You can find clothing from my favourites like Jane Suda Brand and also Milin and Kloset (photo). Edgy cleverness and cheeky-ness make this shopping destination so appealing. Plus the Siam Centre mall itself is like a living, breathing art space in and of itself.

Chakuchak Weekend Market

Bangkok-Chatuchak

With over 8,000 stalls, it’s the world’s biggest weekend market. Knowing this, Chatuchak (or Jatujak) offers everything from art works, to accessories, to home decor including antiques, to clothing including vintage. TIP: Keep the cash handy as vendors don’t usually accept cards.

Night market outside Siam BTS train station

Sounds random but it’s hard to miss! I literally bought all my leisure clothes here in one massive swoop! A line skirts, tee shirts, accessories – basically anything cheap and cheerful you’re after, you can find it here.

Asava

Bangkok-Asava

One of my favourite Thai designers who just so happened to intern at Marc Jacobs in New York before starting his eponymous line. Completely wearable yet eyecatching, this is the answer to the modern woman’s wardrobe woes. Thai superstars are fans and so am I!

Asava is located at 1st Fl. Siam Paragon, 1st Fl The Emporium and 2nd Fl Central Chidlom.

Bangkok is an absolute must for the die hard shoppers out there. I think I died a little when I left!
