Deemed as the best boutique resort in Bangkok by many, The Siam proves even more.

It shies away from the cluster of chain hotels by the Chao Phraya river, and nestles itself in the old, royal district of Dusit. Entrance by the road seems as simple as coming to a modest family mansion. Arrival by the river, however, is fashionable, especially done by the twilight as the resort’s petite jetty is set as an evening lounge with white-clothed tables and sofas.

The main area of The Siam adopts a layout of a greenhouse with mighty refreshing plants and water feature cooling the heart of this property. The ground floor of this monochromatic architecture houses neatly displayed artifacts and antiques. Enthusiasts may spend the whole day studying each piece of the collection.

There is also a private screening room which happens to be the coolest feature a boutique resort ever had. A comprehensive assortment of vintage cameras, as well as documentation of classic Thai cinema, fills this art-deco style library, bar, and mini theatre.

Meanwhile, the gym celebrates Muay Thai as the globally recognized traditional martial art. There is a small boxing ring in the corner. Guests can make appointments with professional, English-speaking Muay Thai trainers to exercise some jabs, uppercuts, elbow strikes, and even 360-degrees roundhouse kicks.

The Siam has 39 suites and pool villas, starting from 1680sqm Siam Suites to a 160sqm Connie’s Cottage. The debonair and generous suites and villas are all fashioned for comfort and functionality. Cool, free-standing bathtub and twin vanities included in the spacious bathrooms.

The Opium Spa was named as Best Luxury Resort Spa in Thailand by the World Luxury Spa Awards 2013. The waiting lounge is meditative, and the hammam is perfect for a me-time. The spa, though situated on the lower ground of the hotel, makes a complete escape to another world.

The hotel’s Chon Thai Restaurant is set within a cluster of three authentic Thai teakwood houses which were sourced by Jim Thompson the silk tycoon. In a friendly and casual manner, it serves original Thai cuisine. A la carte breakfast is served in Deco Ar & Bistro, and it makes the happiest morning. All healthy food comes in generous portion, served in a flawless manner.

A 30-minutes boat ride from the hotel will take guests to Saphan Thaksin to connect to the city. Try the boat ride back to the hotel right before dinner time to view Bangkok from the Chao Praya river at its most beautiful shades. Do not miss the dazzling view of Wat Arum – the Temple of Dawn.

The Siam truly provides a stylish stay, and a mesmerizing escape. It is still within the city, yet a tranquil oasis. It celebrates the past with a new, youthful energy. An unparalleled luxury indeed.

The Siam is in 3/2 Thanon Khao, Vachirapayabal, Dusit, Bangkok 10300. Tel: +66-2-2066999
