For one night, we packed our bags and skipped off to the newly-opened The Club hotel at Ann Siang Hill. Here’s our verdict of the indulgent stay.

To a lot of our friends from overseas, a staycation is an odd concept that they’ve never heard of till landing in Singapore. Well, for us Singaporeans who generally share an apartment with our parents, a comforting stay outside of home for a night or two is rather enticing. So when we got the chance to pack our bags and hop off to the brand new The Club hotel, we were positively thrilled. After all, there’s nothing better than being able to sink into an ultra luxurious bed and leave our worries at the door.

So soon enough, we found ourselves within the enclave of Ann Siang Hill checking into the refurbished 19th century colonial building. Upon arrival, we were whisked away for a seat at Mr & Mrs Maxwell’s – one of 4 dining establishments at The Club – for a refreshing welcome drink as we completed our check in. At Mr & Mrs Maxwell is also where guests can head to for breakfast every morning – if you can get out of bed that is.

Being eager beavers, all we really wanted to do was head up to the spacious Club Room and have a feel of the Queen Elizabeth-approved bedding – just imagine if it’s good enough for Her Majesty, it’ll be out of this world for us – and indeed it was. Awarded the Royal Warrant, the HYPNOS beds provide sheer comfort and unparalleled support. With its intelligent pocket spring technology, your body would essentially feel like it’s sleeping on fluffy soft clouds.

Other than the comfortable beds, what we love about the rooms at The Club is how everything has a colonial touch to it. From the thoughtfully selected Penguin classics to the Bamford bathroom amenities and the sleek and luxurious design, we felt like we were somewhere in London. Juxtaposed with the red shophouse-like windows and oriental furniture in the lift lobbies of some levels and you’ll just how perfectly balanced the East-meets-West theme is.

Not before long, it was time to head up to the rooftop bar and grill, Tiger’s Milk. Overlooking the Ann Siang Hill district, the Peruvian-inspired space offered up quite the selection of pisco-infused cocktails, ceviches, anticuchos and para picars. The unique blend of flavours sure did enough to create quite the party in our mouths and left us wanting for more (look out for a separate review soon!).

And if Tiger’s Milk doesn’t suit your fancy, not to worry because you can always head on over to The Disgruntled Chef for an equally scrumptious dinner, or explore the area around The Club since the entire Ang Siang Hill stretch is dotted with restaurants and cafes.

So if you ask us what’s our verdict of the stay, we have to say it was one indescribably relaxing one. Together with faultless service staff to assist you in any of your queries, there’s really not much you have to worry about when you stay at The Club.

Now if you’re looking for a staycation package come Christmas or New Year’s, may we suggest getting yourselves settled into one of The Club’s rooms? The Club is offering a 3 Days 2 Nights Festive Indulgence stay package with room rates starting from SGD860++. We couldn’t think of a better place than Ang Siang Hill/ Club Street to ring in 2016! Just imagine the festive atmosphere that you’ll be surrounded with.

The Club Hotel is located at 28 Ann Siang Road.
