Staff Picks: Marie France Asia’s favourite summer destinations
updated the 6 October 2015 à 23:02Instead of being stuck in Singapore, here are some of our favourite places to visit when summer hits the country.
While we don’t necessarily see the need to escape Singapore for summer’s sake – it’s summer all year round – the idea of going somewhere that’s currently enjoying summer is a whole other thing.
So here are some of our favourite destinations to visit when the shining season dawns upon.
Rana – Editor-in-Chief
Paris, France
“As much as I love Asia, nothing beats a summer vacation in Europe, especially Paris.
Tarandip – Fashion & Beauty Writer
Nongsa, Indonesia
“While I don’t necessarily have a spot I’d escape to when summer shine upon the rest of the world, nonetheless I’d say that a quick jaunt to Nongsa, Indonesia would be just perfect. That’s especially so if I include a stay in the white-walled idyllic place, Montigo Resorts. The 45 minute ferry makes it all the more enticing. ”
Yijie – Editorial Intern
Marrakesh, Morocco
“Besides its vibrancy, the city also has an incredibly rich cultural and religious history, making it immensely alluring to the nerd in me! Be it the winding market alleys or colourful array of spices and textiles, I love that Marrakesh will immediately engulf you in its dizzying – but endearing – chaos.”
Karen – Lifestyle & Food Writer
Melbourne, Australia
“I love going to Melbourne at this time of the year. It’s officially summer everywhere else but the autumn weather over there is a welcome relief from the usual heat of Singapore, making it the perfect place to go for walks and stay outdoors without risk of headaches or sunburn. The place is always buzzing and there’s never a lack of good new cafes to check out.”
Syaz – Fashion & Beauty Writer
Krabi, Thailand
“I was in Krabi just a month ago and it was absolutely stunning. They have the best beaches on so many little islands and limestone cliffs littered around the mainland, making it perfect for amazing photo ops! The crystal-clear turquoise water was always at its best and most beautiful at noon. Definitely going back there when I can.“
Cheryl – Lifestyle & Beauty Writer
St Tropez, France
“If I have to pick an escape from Singapore, I will head straight to St Tropez. It takes a good solid 18 hours plus to get there, but it’s always worth it.“
