Stylish Staycation: Hotel Jen Tanglin perfect for next ‘Jeneration’ of travellers

Nestled in the quiet part of Singapore’s Orchard area, Hotel Jen Tanglin (previously Traders Hotel) is quite the gem of a place. Targeting the next ‘Jeneration’ of business and leisure travellers, the fresh and contemporary space is brilliantly designed with a modern and innovative spin. From the stylish and quirky rooms, to the thoughtfully placed amenities, and the ingenius details slipped into every corner, let’s just say we were pleasantly surprised at every turn.

The Rooms

All 565 rooms under their roof are not the same – each is adorned with one of four locally curated wallpaper designs highlighting a Singapore theme (bicycles, orchids, goldfishes and shop houses). Thoughtfully conceptualised, each room also comes equipped with high pressure walk in showers (no tubs though) and king-sized ‘floating’ beds with 300 thread count linen. So luxurious is Jen’s middle name. Executive suites, on the other hand, come with a pull out sofa bed, a pantry, a microwave and a SMEG fridge.

With quirky touches such as a ‘hello’ clothes rack or cushions that say ‘Keep Calm and Take A Selfie’, the entire space is one joyfully crafted place of rest.

Club Lounge

On the 17th floor of the 18th storey building, sits the vibrant Club Lounge. Opening up to glorious views of lush greenery in the nearby residential neighbourhood, the large space offers a wide variety of food items for breakfast, to cocktails and canapes in the evening. We were positively stuffed by the end of our staycation because we couldn’t quite pry ourselves away from the glorious spread.

This was no doubt our favourite place to hang out in the hotel – besides the pool of course. It’s hard to say no when there’s such an impeccable view awaiting you.

J65 – All Day Dining

When it comes to hotels, another thing we often look forward to are the expansive buffets. At Hotel Jen’s J65, the modern restaurant features a brilliant local farmer’s market look, that’s filled to the brim with a delectable selection of Southeast Asian cuisine. And by delectable we really do mean every letter of the word.

Tech-Centric

The hotel is ultimately perfect for those who can’t seem to take their fingers off their numerous gadgets. With USB ports conveniently located beside the bed, along with high speed WiFi and universal sockets, you will definitely not be missing out on anything happening in the digital world. At the same time, for business travellers, you wold be able to get work done without a hitch.

So do we recommend hitting up Hotel Jen Tanglin the next time you’re pondering over where to go for a quick staycation? Hands down, definitely. It’s centrally located, easy to access, bang for your buck and essentially the perfect spot for a quick respite from work.
