The smell of freshly cut grass, the clink of champagne glasses and the thunder of hooves.

Yes the famous British Polo Day is returning to Asia for its 2013/14 run.

The event – which doubles as a celebration of British heritage and a showcase for some of the country’s top luxury brands – will be coming to five locations on our fair continent over the coming months.

The first chukka will be played in Singapore on Saturday, September 28 before moving on to events in Thailand, India , South Korea and China.

Sponsored by Land Rover, British Polo Day has become renowned as a week long festival of luxury and fashion.

The event is the brainchild of ex army officer Ed Olver, who held the very first British Polo Day in 2009 in the Middle East and has watched it grow from there.  It’s the third year it has visited Singapore.

On the field and on the day, top British polo teams, the British Exiles and Cambridge University, do battle against local teams at the Singapore Polo Club. As well as the two polo matches, there is also a charity auction and an evening segment showcasing luxury fashion brands.

As well as the hot guys and girls in jodhpurs, guests will also enjoy the fruits of VIP luxury during a Taittinger Champagne Reception and VIP Lunch on the Club House Terrace as well as being able to soak up the action pitchside.

His Excellency, Mr Antony Phillipson, the British High Commissioner for Singapore described it as “a wonderful experience of this uniquely British sport with real resonance in this part of the world, as well as for a large number of luxury brands and British firms.”

After Singapore, British Polo Day will visit China (October 18),  India (December 14), Thailand (February 2014) with a new stop in South Korea being added to the calendar.
