Sneak a peek at the ‘Suite 67’, Belmond La Residencia’s latest collaboration with fashion designer Matthew Williamson.

Spain’s island of Mallorca (pronounced ‘Majorca’) might be better known for its phenomenal beaches, picturesque coves, impressive Gothic architecture, and as the favourite summer holiday destination for Spanish royalty.

However, azure waters and beautiful palm trees aside, another reason to gush over the scenic Spanish island’s offerings is the design collaboration between designer Matthew Williamson and its iconic Belmond La Residencia hotel.

The acclaimed designer, known for his signature mixture of vibrant colours, textures, and rich botanical influences, was commisioned to design a one-bed suite in the luxury hotel. The suite, named ‘Suite 67’, opened recently in April 2018 and is quintessentially Williamson in design.

It features his signature aesthetic all combined with a rustic decadence, whilst still honouring the heritage and traditional Mallorcan feel of the property. Matthew’s signature wallpaper, Rosanna Trellis, dress the walls of the bedroom, while the living space is accented with Matthew’s decorative upholstery fabrics all set against soft pink blush walls. Each space will have a distinct mood, balancing contemporary playful designs with eye-catching hues and hand-drawn fauna and floral patterns.

Fashion’s influence on interior design is certainly not new. This isn’t Williamson’s first design collaboration, for one. The designer has put his signature bohemian creative touch in redesigning the courtyard in London’s Blakes Hotel Kensington. Closer to home, there’s also the Bvlgari Hotel Shanghai opening this year, with a Tokyo edition expected to launch in 2022.

Considering we have a self-confessed weakness for stunning interiors, the merging of fashion minds and hotel spaces is a design trend we’re pretty stoked about. Browse the newly-opened Belmond La Residencial suite in the gallery above.
