2017’s Most Visited Cities Revealed: Singapore ranks 4th place

Singapore is also slated to overtake London as the third-most visited city by 2025.

Singapore is the fourth most visited city in the world, with 17.6 million visitors in 2017. This makes it the second time in a row Singapore has snagged the fourth spot on the recently released Euromonitor’s ranking of the Top 100 city destinations. By 2025, Singapore is also slated to overtake London as the third-most visited city, which will make the ranking a largely Asian-dominated one.

Owing to the rise in demand of Chinese outbound tourism, the list sees a domination of Asian cities in its ranking. Asian cities are increasingly making it way onto the list; from 34 cities in 2010 to 41 cities in 2016.

The reason behind this? Its proactive in harnessing their smart city efforts. On the other hand, the travel landscape in Europe has been affected by events like Brexit and terrorist attacks. For instance, Paris dropped in ranking following its two high-profile attacks in 2015.
