From pastels to jet blacks, we’ve got you covered with some of the most elegant dress ideas for your lovely bridesmaids.

Besides the wedding couple, the next group of individuals with all eyes on them are the bridesmaids and groomsmen. As a bride you always want your ladies in line looking their best since having them at your side will compliment how you look as well.

Considering each of your bridesmaid will come with varying tastes and body types, it won’t be easy to tie all of them down to one particular cut and style. But that’s not to say it can’t be done either – an experienced tailor will definitely know what to do. So read on to know how you can be involved in the shopping process, and help your ladies-in-waiting be their most radiant for the wedding. It’s the least you can do to show that you appreciate the time and effort that they put in for your special day!

SET A THEME

Following the success of choosing your bridal gown (and at this point we hope you’ve made the clever decision to do this before moving on to your bridesmaids!), try to impart that same theme onto their dresses and look for dresses that fit the theme. Whether it’s a classic white wedding, elegantly rustic, a dreamy fairytale, a summer beach soiree, or even quirky modern, you should be the best person to understand your own wedding concept.

BUDGET OR BESPOKE?

Some brides prefer their bridesmaids to look like birds of the same feather, with the same dresses in the same fabrics and exact shade of colour. Some brides don’t mind if their bridesmaids merely look like birds of the same species. So decide on which look you incline towards, taking into account whether you’re sponsoring their outfits or would rather they purchase them.

If going for bespoke, some experienced bridal houses are known to keep archives of popular necklines, silhouettes and lengths that flatter every body type. Don’t be afraid to enquire as designs can be discussed, as well as choice of fabrics.

Ready-made options are always available in physical stores or online, and if fitting is a concern, remember that clothes can always be altered to fit like a glove on each of the ladies. Just make sure to start hunting for the dresses early to allow lead time in alterations.

DECIDE AS A GROUP

Setting a date to go out shopping always sounds like a good idea at a time, but shuffling from store to store could get tiring for you and the girls. So why not gather them for a staycation (do pre-hens nights exist?) to brainstorm and shop online? That way you can all coordinate your dresses and have a fun night in at the same time. Instead of having busy, messy discussions via text message or Whatsapp.

With that, here’s hoping you’re more than well armed with some useful pointers before embarking on this journey with your bridesmaids! For starters, head on over to our gallery for our roundup of themes and dress ideas you could possibly use.
