Royalty of the reel world, women everywhere waited with bated breath to find out what their favourite TV character and fashionista would wear on her big day. Carrie Bradshaw did not disappoint, showing up to her doomed wedding in a strapless Vivienne Westwood gown. The poofy dress certainly lent to the fairy tale vibe Carrie had always dreamt of.

As if getting married on an enchanting Greek island isn’t amazing enough, Sophie blows us all out of the water with her breezy, Grecian-inspired wedding dress. Coupled with her beachy mermaid curls and bare feet, Sophie’s ensemble couldn’t have been more island appropriate.

There's nothing like a royal wedding to get us dreaming about our own nuptials, and Princess Mia’s regal, off-shoulder, lace-sleeved wedding dress is actually something we can get behind in real life, royalty or not.

Nobody knew what to expect with the Twilight wedding but Bella completely stunned everyone with her simple yet chic Carolina Herrera masterpiece. We’ve no doubt many brides-to-be took inspiration from Mrs Cullen’s long-sleeved silk sheath gown with an open lace back.

With a continuous parade of bridal gowns throughout the film, Bride Wars is the ultimate movie for wedding gown inspiration. Here, Emma and Liv look their bridal best in Vera Wang gowns –one a frothy tulle ball gown, the other a sweet, one-shoulder mermaid dress.

What’s a movie wedding dress list without mention of Audrey Hepburn? The classic style icon is seen rocking a Givenchy tulle and satin tea length dress in Funny Face. Yet another retro look for today’s unconventional bride.

Keira Knightley’s character Georgiana best captures the opulence of 18^th century English nobility in her heavily embroidered gold wedding gown. An embellished bodice, decorative ribbons and numerous petticoats certainly make this one of the more outstanding outfits in the movie.

Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones
One would have expected Padme’s dress to be bizarre in design but thankfully, the Trish Biggar-designed gown takes inspiration from the Edwardian era with its Edwardian lace bedspread and 300 yards of French-knit braid found through the pearl studded dress. The clean cut silhouettes, V-neckline and lace veil make this dress a classic choice for many brides.

Shari Headley’s frothy pink confection of a gown is the last word in grand when it comes to wedding dresses, but rightly so considering she’s marrying Prince Akeem Joffer of Zamunda.

From Carrie Bradshaw’s couture gown to the Grecian-inspired number in Mamma Mia, these are some of the most memorable wedding dresses on screen.

If Disney showed us what we wanted in a romance, then Hollywood movies show us what we want in a wedding dress. It’s no surprise that some of our favourite Hollywood films like Sex and the City and Mamma Mia, are centred around weddings, and of course, we can’t help but take note and get inspired by their wedding dresses.

Whether it’s Carrie’s stunning Vivienne Westwood gown in SATC movie or Princess Mia’s classic gown in Princess Diaries 2, there’s nothing like watching your favourite characters tie the knot in their gorgeous gowns to get you psyched for your own big day.
