There’s no denying that when it comes to weddings, Indian weddings are hands down the most spectacularly fun ones around. From the can’t-help-but-dance music to the hearty buffet of food and the sheer exuberance of colours, there’s no beating these weddings. Honestly, they’re just a whole other ball game altogether.

Dance like you just don’t care

Ever wondered why Indians are such great dancers? That’s because it’s ingrained in us right from the very beginning when we attended our first wedding as kids. Now, whenever a sibling’s or cousin’s wedding comes around, you can expect to be performing a segment and if you’re not related, well then that’s what the dance floor is for. Every wedding comes with a dance floor for you to show off your Bollywood moves. The best part? Anyone, young or old will be grooving along, in some way or the other.

The glorious buffet of food

There’s food, lot and lots of food. Perhaps, that’s the one reason why most people turn up for the wedding – to munch on all the sweet and savoury options till a food coma ensues.

Stealing shoes

The bride’s family (sister or cousin sisters) holds the right to ‘steal’ the groom’s shoes. After which, in exchange for the shoes, the groom will have to hand over a handsome sum of money. How’s that for wedding games? Although some grooms tend to spoil the game by bringing an extra pair of shoes to the wedding – you know what we call them? Utter spoilsports.

Dressing up

With a multitude of different ceremonies, you can easily be expected to prepare at least 4 outfits if you’re attending everything. And well, we’re not complaining because this is the one time we get to show off the exquisite beauty of Indian wear in all of its vibrant glory. Essentially, think of the wedding as one grand red carpet gala. Now who doesn’t love to dress up in a show stopping outfit?

Curious uncles and aunties

There will always be the bunch of nosy uncles and aunties who need to know everything that’s happening in your life – from where you work to who you’re dating (if there’s anyone) to what you’re wearing on that day. That can get frustrating but what’s fun though is to answer them in confusing and controversial ways just to rile them up. Note: Don’t forget to tell them you’re joking and end it all in the name of fun!

Don’t you want to accept that invite now?
