Switzerland is not only revered for their watches and chocolates, their skincare is one to boast about as well. For some insight we spoke to the brains behind CHOLLEY SA.

Hailing from the land of the Swiss where exquisite watches, decadent chocolates and exceptionally beautiful ski resorts stem from is CHOLLEY SA with their range of technology-meet-natural range of skincare. And yes, from that you should know that Switzerland is also revered for their downright innovative skincare industry.

For instance, with CHOLLEY SA, one is able to see the impeccable combination of scientific research and ancient traditions of beauty. Founder and President of CHOLLEY SA, Cholley Paydar Bavandpour established the brand in 1989, and the year after acquired Laboratoire Dr. Masset de Vallefort. Dr. Masset is essentially considered one of the pioneers in the field of phytobiocosmetics that makes use of plants as a key element in skincare and now forms the signature of CHOLLEY skincare.

Together with the use of traditional Iranian medicine, CHOLLEY SA specialises in anti aging and brightening products and in essence prides itself for the high standards of quality and efficacy.

So now that the brand is available at Haute Swiss Cosmetics in Singapore, we took this opportunity to speak with Cholley Paydar Bavandpour and learn more about the inventive brand.

What sets CHOLLEY SA apart from other Swiss skincare brands?

What is very special of our products is phytobiology and we are well versed in the use of plant extracts along with vitamins and amino acids amongst other ingredients. Additionally, I am Iranian and hence we have the know how to use herbs, especially special herbs that grow in the west of Iran, in the mountainous regions. Hence, we utilised our knowledge of the natural elements with science and technology for a special combination of East and West.

How would you explain phytobiocosmetics to your customers?

Phytobiocosmestics simply means that you use plants and herbs with amino acids, vitamins, alantonin etc. That is the best combination of plants and biological science.

What do you think is the most common skincare problem that women face?

It depends on the age. When I was young, I had problems with acne. But when you grow older, the problems arise step by step. You may start with having impure, sensitive or dehydrated skin and then you’ll get to the more problematic concerns like wrinkles and loose, sagging skin. For me, it’s not only one problem. I think Asians have much better skin, one that’s more resistant as compared to the women in Europe. The women in Europe have very nice skin when they’re young but when they get older, they have lots of problems. The women in Asia however, when they’re young, they may not have as good skin but with age, if they take care of it, the skin gets better and better.

What are some of the ‘ancient traditions of beauty’ that you utilise in your brand?

We use some herbs and plants that have been used in cosmetics for centuries. Some of our products are 100% naturally made from these herbs and plants.

For people with sensitive skin, what skincare advice would you give?

For sensitive skin, we have the phytocell line, that’s especially recommended for people with redness and irritated skin. These anti-stress products will be good.

Do you think the pressure to look young is necessary?

I think not young but to look healthy. So what we’re doing with our products is to make the skin look healthy. Healthy skin looks beautiful and looks younger.

Which products would you recommend to a first time Cholley SA consumer?

All the products are very specific so my recommendations will be very specific. If somebody is looking for whitening then I’ll give the Gel-Cream or the Whitening Ampules, it depends on what the request is.

Lastly, what is the ideal skincare routine for you?

I use a lot of products. When you are young, you can eat a lot and you don’t put on weight that easily but with age, you have to watch your weight. It’s the opposite with skincare. When you are young, you don’t need so many products to stay hydrated for instance. As you grow older, you need more and more products. For example, at 20 you just need 3 steps, at 30 you’ll need 4 steps and at my age, you need 7 steps.

So I start with cleanser, Tonic Lotion then from the Phytocell range I use the Eye Contour Cream, Booster. Then the Arganight Cream (night) and the Phytocell Cream for the day.

CHOLLEY SA is available at Haute Swiss Cosmetics, #03-03 Wisma Atria and online.
