It can be tricky to shop for skincare when you have sensitive skin but here are some of the naturally-scented ones that are safe for use.

Smelling fresh all day is quite a tall order in sweaty Singapore. You can only douse yourself with so much perfume before you start to fumigate the people around you. So, what’s a girl to do?

Well, we’ll tell you. Why not remove your daily spritz and replace it with beautifully scented body lotions to shave off a step in your beauty routine? People with sensitive skin may be crying foul at us right now, but products scented with natural ingredients should not pose too much of a problem for your skin.

Using products with fully natural oils or fragrances such as lavender oil, almond oil or honey should not pose any danger to those suffering from sensitive skin. Pick products that contain all natural ingredients and avoid by-products of scents or synthetic fragrances, which can cause a bad reaction to those with vulnerable skin.

If you’re tired of using blah unscented products, sticking to botanical, organic or natural products are your best bet when you have sensitive skin. Depending on pre-existing allergies and the sensitivity of your skin, some brands might suit you better than others. To be absolutely sure, visit the dermatologist for a patch test on the eight most common fragrance ingredients to see if you have any adverse reactions to any. The test should check for components like geraniol – found in lavender, geranium and jasmine, or isoeugenol – found in ylang ylang.

Make sure you do a patch test before applying any new products to your face. Apply a small amount behind your ear for 7 days, if your skin shows no reaction, it should be alright to use on the rest of your body.

From relaxing floral scents like lavender to delicious scents like vanilla (that makes us crave a milkshake), you’ll smell like a garden or your favourite candy. And either of those are fine by us!

Brighten up your day with these uplifting scents.
