Gender stereotypes repeatedly plague society but at least we’ve got artists to throw a hilarious light onto the issue…

“Men are insensitive”, “Women are bad drivers”, “All men love sports and sex“, “All women love shopping and gossiping” and the list goes on…

You have probably heard this at least once or maybe even more than once in your daily lives.  All these stereotypes about the differences between men and women are ubiquitous in our society and have ultimately inspired many authors.

Recently, we came across a real witty and caustic approach to the subject and that was done through colourful pictograms illustrated in the book “MAN MEETS WOMAN” by Beijing-born, Berlin-based designer, Yang Liu.

The clichés come from everywhere – work, home, parenthood, even from bed – and it is through her book, that Yang Liu sought to share her playful take on this topic. She said “With this little book I would like to present a visual documentary of my personal views on the subject of communication between men and women. I thereby hope to be able to encourage all of us to approach this subject with a little more humour and, in our daily interactions, to look at and think about things from the viewpoint of the opposite sex.”

Now enough talking, let’s take a look at the images. Unsurprisingly, the green pictograms are for men and the pink ones, of course, for women.
