Your shower products may be everyday essentials but it doesn’t mean they have to be boring. Take a pick from our round up of refreshing picks.

If there is something worth looking forward to at the start and end of the day, it is a refreshing shower. One of the quickest routes to relaxation is through a relaxing session spent in the bathroom washing away all the stress and knots from the day’s proceedings. There is an amazing selection of body washes out there and they come in many forms such as shower gels, creams and even the latest trend, oils.

Deciding between a bar soap, shower gel or oil can be daunting. Is there a difference? We decode the differences between the various shower product types.

BAR SOAP

This nifty piece of soap is great for  removing dirt, debris, and oil from the skin. While it has a higher chance of slipping out of your hands, it is the ideal choice for a quick wash. A bar soap may be drying and it not always recommended for sensitive skin unless the bar soap is filled with ingredients to keep the skin extra hydrated.

SHOWER GEL

Shower gels are mostly water-based and portable for travel. They are often formulated with ingredients such as vitamins to soothe the skin. Simply mix a few drops of shower gel with water to form a lather. The mixture will help to break fat and oil droplets into small pieces so that you can get rid of dead skin and oils.

SHOWER OIL

Shower oils are relatively new to the beauty world but have been used for centuries to nourish the skin. These products can be used in-shower to soften and moisturize the skin. Shower oils are similar to soaps but are less harsh on the skin and may not remove as much debris. We would consider this to be more of an added product to be used with your regular soap. It will help to replenish any lost moisture.A lather can be worked up and you can even use it for shaving – talk about convenience.
