Multi-Masking: Is this new skincare secret the answer to flawless skin?

mis à jour le 21 April 2016 à 00:00

This latest skincare trend has hit the beauty sphere and it has attracted our attention.

Face masks have been the one-stop solution for many women dealing skin concerns ranging from dullness to breakouts. Not only are masks packed with skin-loving ingredients, they also help to detox the skin and enrich it with much-needed nutrients. However, these single masks may not be able to target issues all at once. Perhaps you are only breaking out on your jawline and struggling with dryness on your cheeks.

Different masks for different skin concerns

Instead of applying a purifying charcoal mask to your entire face, apply it only to areas where your breakouts are more prominent as those are the spots that need a detox. For areas where you are experiencing dryness, apply a hydrating mask that makes use of ingredients like olive oil or aloe vera. Use pore-minimising masks on areas like your nose and forehead to get rid of any blackheads or whiteheads. Don't forget to show the neck some love - apply a firming mask to help strengthen the skin layer.

Why should you multi-mask?

Multi-masking is all about addressing your skin concerns by studying your skin carefully. Do you know what your skin needs? There are many multi-masking routines out there. We suggest beginning with applying a mattifying clay mask on your forehead, nose and chin. Masks rich in Salicylic Acid will help to deep-clean pores and refine your skin. When it comes to your eyes, make use of eye masks with hydrating ingredients such as retinol. Lastly, apply a brightening mask on your cheeks such as those rich in vitamin C to even out your skin tone.

It is all about experimenting and ensuring that you do these routines in moderation once a week. Overexposing your skin to masks might reduce its efficacy.
