Makeup always gets our minds into a tizzy just from the sheer fun involved! So this week, we’re dishing on our must have cosmetic friend!

Makeup is undeniably our weak spot and even though we may possess multiple drawers full of vibrant lipsticks, eyeshadow quads, palettes and eyeliners that would be enough to line all the models working the fashion weeks, there are some buys that we – consciously or not – reach out to on a daily basis. So, for this week, we present to you our favourite makeup buys that have yet to fail us!

Urban Decay Naked2 Palette, approx. USD63

“While bright lipsticks will remain as my favourite makeup buy, I do change them from season to season, apart from a few classic shades. However when it comes to eyeshadow, I tend to stick to one palette – day or night, winter or summer.

I love the Naked2 palettte by Urban Decay which contains all neutral and bronze shades that complement my complexion and can be used to achieve a dolled up look for a night out or a more toned-down day look. Plus, the natural shades of the palette mean that I can still wear my bright orange lipstick even during the day without the risk of looking OTT.
My tip: I use the darker shades on the outside to draw the shape, then fill in the inner corner of the eye as well as the crease with one of the lighter shades. Since I hardly use liquid or gel liners, I also use the black shade in the palette to line my upper eyelid.”

Sephora Long Lasting Eyeliner High Precision Brush, approx. USD17

“Anyone who knows me will tell you that my eyeliner and I are inseparable. We’ll never leave each other’s side. And even though I dabble in the occasional coloured liners, black is still my comfort zone and it’s a zone I doubt I’ll leave anytime soon.

So the hunt for a good eyeliner has always been a real one – they were either not black enough, didn’t last or would embarrassingly smudge all over. All of that came to an end though when I roamed the aisles of Sephora in search of my next liner friend. When all else failed, I begrudgingly decided to pick up one from Sephora’s house brand – it was cheap, there was no harm – and boy was I glad I did. This liner is not only ridiculously jet black but the brush is great for creating a good ‘ol cateye and it stays on all day, believe me, I’ve tried. I don’t think I’ll need to go on an eyeliner hunt again, at least as long as Sephora does not phase this one out!”

Benefit Hoola Bronzer, USD28

“Apart from a great mascara, one thing I can never leave home without is my beloved Benefit Hoola Bronzer. With its smooth matte texture, it offers the perfect sun-kissed glow, no tanning bed necessary. As a pale-skinned girl, it’s hard to find bronzers that don’t appear too dark or orange on my skin – but this product blends perfectly and looks natural on any skin tone. I simply sweep a small amount of it on my forehead, cheeks, chin and neck. Plus, it comes in a super cute Barbados-inspired box – who wouldn’t love that?”

Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm Shade 16 Voluptuous Violet, USD17

“Strutting down town with my lips chapped and drained of colour is probably my’s biggest nightmare – if not the worst. Like a knight in shining armour, this tainted lip balm that comes in the most glorious purple does wonders in transforming my pale face into one that looks refreshed and vitalised. It rubs off on my lip to give a naturally looking flush that adds just the right amount of colour and contrast – not too dressy like a bold red lip nor too mild like a subtle peachy shade of lip gloss, so it can be used any day and any time. Love!”

Guerlain Terracotta Skin foundation in Nude, approx. USD53

“True to its name, the texture is velvety and even if you happen to squeeze out more than you’d meant to, it seems to be able to, very naturally, spread evenly around the face, leaving you with a dewy, glowing look, without making your face look overly made up. It honestly transforms the skin and gives you that confidence boost – helping you put your best foot forward  – whether you’ve woken up fresh or with a savage hangover.“

Benefit Benetint Rose-tinted Lip and Cheek Stain, approx. USD49

“It’s multi-functional, so easy to use and fits perfectly in my handbag! I can use it to make my lips naturally rosy as well as give my cheeks a natural flush, without checking the mirror!”

YSL Rogue Volupte in Ultimate Beige,  approx. USD35

“This lipstick is one of the best I’ve ever tried. The texture is smooth and light – feels exactly like silk on your lips and it is effortless to apply.
On top of that they have a wide range of colours. I prefer the shade Ultimate Beige as it looks very natural on my lips.”

Chanel Rouge Allure in Pirate, approx. USD36

“I like to highlight my smile with my favourite lipstick. For me, this one by Chanel is the perfect shade of red – sombre, intense but never ‘too much’. It goes really well with any outfit, whether a little black dress or a with casual t-shirt. Moreover, it is called ‘pirate’ and, just for this detail alone, I am in love.”
