After a long day out with a full face of makeup, these are the trusty products we turn to when it comes to removing it all.

After a long day out with a face full of makeup, the first thing that we want to do when we get home is remove all that gunk in one clean swipe. However, sometimes that’s easier said than done, judging by the number of makeup removers that have passed on our vanity tables ever since we learned how to put on makeup.

Well, now after numerous trials and errors, here’s what the team at Marie France Asia has dubbed as their holy grail of removers.

Laneige Fresh Brightening Cleansing Oil, SGD48

“Having combination skin, I was at first a fan of milk-based makeup removers until I stumbled over this cleansing oil from Laneige. It is light, non-greasy and dissolves my foundation, eye makeup and even lipstick instantly and without much rubbing needed. Best of all, my skin doesn’t feel dry or tight after using it. Also, the bottle lasts me for months!”

Nivea Make Up Clear Micellar Water, SGD9.90

“This one is just perfect for removing everything in one fell swoop or swipe rather. Whether it’s eye makeup, lipstick or foundation, no traces are left behind and in particular, I love that it’s gentle and doesn’t sting the eyes. Definitely a permanent product on my vanity table.”

Maybelline Eye & Lip makeup remover, SGD9.90

“I’ve gone through milk-based makeup removers, makeup wipes, and even used the plain old extra virgin olive oil to cleanse my face but ever since my cousin recommended me Maybelline’s Eye & Lip remover, I never looked back. It got rid of my makeup as well as EVOO did, but less oily. Maybelline’s remover is gentle, it didn’t leave my skin vulnerable and sensitive, partly because I didn’t have to rub again and again.”

Biore Micellar Cleansing Water, SGD18.90

“I am in love with an economical makeup remover. No fancy stuff needed here, the Biore Micellar Cleansing Water works miracles and wipes off makeup in a jiffy. Just a couple of swipes and my face is all clean. I still need oil-based cleansers for my eye makeup as it doesn’t clean off water proof mascara. But lipsticks and eye shadows disappears in a swipe!“

L’Oreal Lip and Eye Makeup Remover, SGD14.90

“Absolutely love how just a tiny spurt of L’Oreal’s makeup remover on a piece of cotton wool can effortlessly dissolve my stubborn waterproof eyeliner. Despite its effectiveness, this makeup remover is actually really mild and it doesn’t sting my eye at all, which is a huge plus point because my eyes are usually very sensitive to makeup removers. After a long day out with makeup, coming home to this hassle-free makeup remover is always a joy.”

Innisfree Green Barley Multi Cleansing Tissue, SGD11

“My favourite makeup remover would be Innisfree Green Barley Multi Cleansing Tissue. It thoroughly removes makeup with just one tissue and cleans the skin at the same time which is great if you’re too exhausted to do the full cleansing routine. Also, I like that that the scent is very neutral and not overpowering.”

CNP Cleansing Perfecta, SGD34

“CNP cleansing perfecta – this is one hardy product. Firstly, I like how it comes in a tube form instead of the usual pump. It is easier to carry around when I’m travelling. Secondly, it is gentle on the skin and it removes makeup very well. It works especially well on my sensitive skin.”
