If you have dry skin or slightly mature skin, you may notice that throughout the day as your skin gets drier, foundation starts to crack, leaving your skin looking parched and dull.

To get a healthy JLo glow that lasts all day, the trick is not in bronzers or highlighters. Instead, try mixing facial oil into your foundation. All you have to do is add one tiny drop of a facial oil of your choice to your everyday foundation.

Facial oils have recently become more popular in the beauty world. Brands like Clarins and Origins have all come up with their version of a miracle oil elixir. However, for this tip, you do not need to specially buy high-end facial oil. You can get by with going to the pharmacy to purchase jojoba, rosehip or argan oil. It is best not to use heavy oils like coconut oil.

How to mix:

You can mix oils into foundation, tinted moisturisers, BB creams, CC creams and even cream stick foundations. This tip will not work with silicone-based or powder foundations.

After mixing, use a brush, sponge or even your fingers to apply foundation like you usually do. After application, let the oils sink into the skin for a minute before taking a tissue to blot away the excess oil. What are left on your skin will be foundation pigment and the oils that have already melted into your skin. Set with powder where needed, like the T-zone.

Why facial oil?

Adding a skincare product into your foundation will improve the condition of your skin. Your skin will benefit from the nourishment the oils provide. With the boost of hydration, it won’t need to overcompensate and produce more oil, as your face is not drying out like it usually does.

This trick is one of the best-kept backstage beauty secrets makeup artists use on models and celebrities. While it may sound intimidating to leave oil on your face for a whole day, it actually makes foundation smoother. The added oils make foundation apply more easily and evenly. It leaves you looking thrice as healthy with the oils adding that luminous lit-from-within glow.
