Skin icing is an oldie but popular beauty ritual which has been used for years by beauty practitioners and women alike to achieve better looking skin. Thanks to its wide range of benefits, it is gaining even more momentum these days and is often used as a DIY spa treatment.

If you’re not so sure what the cool ice can be used for, here are just a couple of things it could help with.

TO ACHIEVE SMOOTHER SKIN

Icing your skin regularly helps to tighten the skin by toning it. Over time, it helps with congested skin and unclogs the pores. This causes large pores to diminish in appearance and size.

DE-PUFFING EYES

This is a trick known by many but not practiced properly. It is a given that icing helps to de-puff and refresh tired-looking eyes. However knowing that the skin around your eye area is rather delicate, applying ice directly can break capillaries. Instead of applying ice directly to the area, wrap an ice cube in a piece of cloth before proceeding to massage the area. Rub in circular motions to reduce the bags under your eyes.

FOR BLEMISH CONTROL

Skin icing is a great way to reduce the swelling and redness associated with pimples. Not only does it help to soothe the skin, it also plays a role in reducing any accompanying inflammation. Start off by cleansing your skin. Wrap a cube of  slightly melted ice in a cloth and apply it to the different areas of your face for at least 2 minutes. It is important to keep rotating the ice around the face. Once done, tone your face and apply moisturizer as per your usual routine.

IMPROVE OVERALL BLOOD CIRCULATION

If you struggle with puffy or red skin from day to day, icing your skin twice a day can help with this problem. Icing helps to constrict blood vessels, decreasing the amount of blood rushing to the skin. Instead it balances the blood and sends warm blood to the skin surface helping to improve the overall blood circulation.

Now that you know how beneficial these cubes from your fridge are, it’s time to grab some and use them to achieve far better looking skin!
