How to double-cleanse without drying your skin?

This skincare method is anything but excessive. Trust us your face will thank you for it in the long run.

We may have heard in some point in our lives not to cleanse more than twice a day in fear of stripping our skin of its natural oils, but the double cleansing method is about to debunk that rule. Here’s how you can give your skin a thorough clean without drying it out and instead, be looking forward to greater skin days ahead.

STEP 1: OIL CLEANSING

Double cleansing is recommended to be done at the end of the day, once you’ve returned from being in the outdoors and subjecting your skin to the surrounding air. Using an oil cleanser will dissolve every trace of makeup and dirt in the pores by deep-cleaning the skin without drying it out. While this is a great method for removing a full face of makeup, it can also be done if you haven’t had any foundation for the day. The skin is always exposed to pollution in the air and accumulated sebum, waterproof sunscreen or long-wearing primer can clog the pores if not removed effectively.

Use this time to de-stress as you massage your face, and give it much needed stimulation after a long day at work. Your blood vessels will be spurred to pump blood actively through your skin and leave you glowing.

STEP 2: USE A WATER-BASED CLEANSER

Depending on the type of oil cleanser, the oil may or may not wash off completely with water. To thoroughly remove the mixture of impurities and oil, use a water-based cleanser for an ultra-clean feel. Your skin should feel plump and moist afterwards, which should then be followed up with a toner and moisturiser or night cream before settling in for your beauty sleep.

Take a look at the various cleansers in our round up above, and rest assured you’ll be going to bed with clean skin and waking up to a brighter complexion every day.
