False eyelashes or falsies as they are so affectionately called, makes a huge difference to your look. The right pair can help accentuate your peepers and create drama when needed. However, when it comes to taking them off – real nightmares may ensue. Trust us, we’ve yanked out a real lash or two with our falsies several times and yes, it hurts like mad.
So prevent an inadvertent eyelash wax by your lash glue by adopting the right removal methods. Trust us, eyelashes take a long while to grow so pulling more out isn’t going to be wise.

MAKEUP REMOVER

Pour some gentle oil-based eye makeup remover on a cotton pad and place it on top of your lids. The oil should help the the lash slide off without pulling on your real lashes. If the lash continues to stick to your lids, use more makeup remover until it comes off.

COLD CREAM

If you’ve run out of makeup remover, get your jar of cold cream. Smear some over your lids and rub until the oils force the falsies to come off your lids. However this method will destroy your falsies, so do this only if you don’t intend to reuse them.

HOT STEAM

Prepare a cup of hot water and hold the steam beneath your eyes to steam the adhesive off. Then yank gently and tentatively from the outer corner and slowly work the lash off your lids.

PULL THEM RIGHT

When removing falsies from your lids, always yank gently from the outer edge and pull them away from your real lashes towards your nose. This method helps you avoid removing your real lashes in the process.

GLUE REMOVER

You can also buy a bottle of eyelash adhesive remover. The downside is that it smells like acetone and you have to be very careful not to get any in your eyes lest you blind yourself.

Save your real lashes by removing the fake ones correctly. After all, you don’t want to end up with no real lashes whatsoever! Now that would the true makeup tragedy.
