The killer question: Are serums necessary in our beauty regime?

updated the 14 July 2015 à 18:32

The serum sneaked into our life rather surreptitiously but it is an important step to adopt into your daily beauty regime. Here’s why.

What is the purpose of using a serum?

The serum is a beauty product with a very active concentrate. Generally, the effects can be seen after two to three weeks. The type of serum you ultimately decide to adopt depends on the effect you want to get and what your skin’s needs are: combating excess sebum, wrinkles, red patches or loss of vitality etc.

When to apply it?

In the morning, on perfectly clean skin – before applying your moisturising cream or corrector. Perform the same ritual at bedtime before applying your night cream. But note that this should’t replace your usual skincare regime! Applying the serum is, after all, a measure that only enhances the effects of your daily cosmetics. Absorbed very quickly by the skin, its fluid formula allows the skin to be immediately rejuvenated.

How to apply it?

Massage the product in circular motions, moving towards the outside of the face. Avoid using cotton wool, as this will absorb all the formula.

If you are looking for one to combat anti-aging, then the Advanced Génifique by Lancôme would be ideal as it activates and repairs 10 visible and tactile signs of young skin. It’s also rather convenient, with its self-charged pipette that automatically dispenses the right amount of product for optimal application. Use it in the morning and evening and you’ll soon realise there’s no need to skip this essential and simple step of the beauty process.
