Lipstick
As mentioned, sharing lip products of any kind is a no no. The main issue is cold sores and the spreading of contagious germs, bacteria and infections which the lips are more vulnerable to, given that it mixes with your saliva and can affect you easily. If you’re the type who feels bad to say no, it’s best to wipe the top of the lipstick bullet before passing it to your friend.

Mascara/Eyliner
The eyes are one of the most sensitive body parts and as such, extra precautions need to be taken when with that area of the face. While it’s true that most mascaras have anti-bacterial properties that make them generally safe for sharing, this does not make them any less risky or bacteria-free.

Jar creams
Whether it’s eye cream or a face cream, dipping and re-dipping your fingers into a jar is a sure fire way to spread bacteria and germs and contaminate the entire jar. If you must share face creams, be sure that your friend uses cotton buds or a special spatula to scoop the product out or else you’re both wiping contaminated creams on your face.

Sharing is caring… but that principle doesn’t apply when it comes to beauty products! Perhaps your friend forgot her lipstick and wants to swipe some from you and being the good friend you are, you think nothing of handing over your tube of lipstick. That’s all fine and dandy if you don’t have mouth sores but what if your friend has an oral infection that she isn’t aware about?
