Threading, Tweezing, Waxing: What’s the best way to deal with your eyebrows?

Struggling to find the best eyebrow removal method? We’ve done the job for you.

You’ve got plucking, shaving, waxing and threading – so, which one’s the winner? With the vast expanse of eyebrow-removal methods at your fingertips, selecting the best one can be a knotty task. But, before we can jump into the long-awaited prize ceremony and start presenting the awards, let us first delve into each contestant’s individual strengths and weaknesses.

1. Waxing

Waxing usually involves spreading an adhesive viscous substance over the desired area and allowing it to harden before deftly tearing it off. Swift and inexpensive, waxing will keep your brows neat and trim for a good 6 to 8 weeks. The best part? Your hairs grow back finer than before. However, known for inducing intense flashes of pain and prompt redness, waxing is definitely one of the more painful methods out there. The area around your eyebrows may remain tender and sensitive for the entire day after the waxing. If your pain threshold is considerably high, waxing is definitely worth going for due to its quick process and long-lasting effectiveness.

2. Threading

This ancient Middle Eastern method is not only a wonder to watch, but also a highly effective removal method. The network of threads work in perfect harmony to trap an eyebrow strand and tug it off its follicle. As stinging as it sounds, let us assure you that it is. But, only for the initial few times. Seasoned customers of the thread can vouch for the fact that it gets more bearable with every session. Not only that, this method is very efficient and inexpensive, without the after-effects of swelling and sensitivity. Your brows will be off your list of worries for roughly 6 to 10 weeks.

3. Plucking

Many believe plucking to be a foolproof method that can be easily done at home with a mere tweezer. However, that’s not the case. Plucking demands patience, an eye for detail, and a fundamental artistic intuition. Experienced pluckers usually start by drawing out their desired brow shape, before plucking away the hairs that aren’t situated within the boundaries. Although time-consuming and relatively challenging, plucking is the most wallet-friendly and flexible method. So, if you are a relatively adept artist, this method’s for you.

4. Shaving

Quick and speedy, there’s no denying that shaving is the most efficient and convenient method. But, it is also the most ineffectual. Shaving only removes the hair above the skin and doesn’t target the hair follicle, causing hair to grow back coarser and thicker. Also, if you’re not meticulous, it is easy to cut yourself or suffer a bad razor burn. Let’s not forget about the moolah. Frequently changing blades can be pretty burdensome for your wallet, deeming it as one of the more expensive methods.

Winning Method: The prize goes to…

It looks like we have a tie between waxing and threading for the first place. These two methods are the most wallet-friendly and effectual out of all. Despite the higher pain levels involved, we’d say a mere few minutes of pain is worth several weeks of fleek-y brows. Coming in second place would be plucking, as although it demands some technicality, it is pretty effective and lasts for a good duration. As for shavers, you might want to remain in the men’s toiletries section.
