Having thin hair doesn’t always echo with easy styling, but French hairdresser Lucia Iraci proves us wrong. Check out how you can work your thin hair with the help of her tips and some celeb inspiration.

Let’s collectively admit it: we are never satisfied with most things, our hair included (unless you are Blake Lively). Those of us with pin-straight hair dream of luscious curls and those of us with thin hair desire a voluminous do. While fine hair isn’t exactly easy to work with, we took the issue to Lucia Iraci‘s expert hands. With the help of Lucia’s styling tips, and our gallery of 10 hairdos of celebrities with fine hair, be inspired to embrace your thin locks as your crowning glory.

Avoid:

– The boy cut or layered hair around the face. “Thin hair sticks to the head, looking like a bird whose feathers had just been plucked,” Lucia explained. Pay attention to volume; the shorter you cut, the less voluminous your hair will get.

– Thinning the hair. Surely you don’t want to thin your hair even more.

– Really long hair. Your hair shouldn’t go past your mid-back, otherwise it calls for a flat finish.

– Really blonde hair. Very light coloured hair gives a visual impression that the person doesn’t have any.

– Fatty oils. They tend to weigh down the hair and reduce volume.

– Conditioner or other disentangling agents. “You are better off with a leave-in conditioner or a hair mask that you massage and rinse off,” Lucia said.

Go for:

– The faux court that hangs. With just the right length, you will have more voluminous and fuller hair.

– A square cut that gives off the impression of volume and lightness.

– A deep colour that gives an effect of density. If you like brown hair, choose for a darker shade.

– Hair wax that is warmed with the hands and promotes volume and easy styling.

– Spray products for that beach look. These work well on dry, thin hair if you are looking for volume.

– Hair extensions. For an evening rendez-vous or special night out, go to a professional and get instant long hair that looks natural.

Be it a formal dinner or a casual walk in the sun, make sure to follow these dos & dont’s of hair styling and come out looking fab no matter how thin your hair is!
