Beauty Review: Laneige Two-Tone Lip Bar

Ombre lips are all the rage but it tends to be a difficult look to perfect. Now you can get them in a jiffy with Laneige’s latest dual coloured lip product!
Ombre hair, ombre clothes, and now, we’ve got ombre lips! This season we’re giving our lips the colour gradation trend first spotted on the catwalks of the world’s fashion capitals and on Korean celebrities of course. This trend might just be picking up on the runways, but 60s model Twiggy was actually the pioneer of the look with her deeply contrasting dual coloured lips. In the past, achieving the ombre lip look meant having to purchase two different lipstick shades and meticulous application in the right places. Well, now it just got easier! Laneige, the Korean cosmetics company that brought us the life changing lip cushion tint now wows us with their all new two-tone lip bar. Getting a catwalk look has never been this effortless!
How it works:
Not all beauty products are created equal and Laneige’s two-tone lip bar is a cut above the rest. This dual coloured product gets the job done in a single swipe. Contour your lips and give them a fuller, juicier pout with naturally blurring colour boundaries. The ombre colours come in 10 shades, ranging from subtle to intense. Take your pick from magenta muse to pink salmon, or if you’re brave, opt for the highly contrasting milk blurring. With their pigment settling dispersing technology, Laneige ensures longer lasting colour with a glossy finish. Design wise, the lipstick is enclosed in an edgy, sliding package and unlike other lipsticks that have a round top, this one is rectangular, which makes for a much easier application. The colours in the lip bar have been cut diagonally, rather than horizontally so that the shades mix well for a more natural effect.
How to use it:
The ‘longer’ colour in the lip bar is the main one. Glide the lip bar along your lower lip to allow the main colour to be applied to the inside of your lip, then turn it upside down and do the same to the upper lip. Purse your lips and mix the colours for a more natural colour gradation.
Our Verdict
The editorial team got a chance to test out the lip bar and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. As promised, it really was easy to glide on and unlike other lipsticks, where the product’s stickiness makes its presence felt, this one barely registered with us. The unique bullet shaped design also made for an interesting conversation starter as most people had never encountered lipstick in such a design. Another plus point is the fact that the lipstick didn’t leave a stain on our mugs, which means we don’t have to waste time reapplying after every sip. Additionally, despite being in the cold, dehydrating office environment and the sapping Singapore heat, our lips felt moisturised throughout the day. And before you ask, yes the colours were definitely vibrant and long lasting. What can we say, glide on ladies!
