Keep your skin hydrated with this essence – just like the Hungarian Queen does.

Hydration is one of the most important aspects of any skincare routine; every skin type needs and craves it in order to maintain a supple and youthful look. Without hydration, we risk putting on unnecessary years to our faces resulting in a dull complexion. So if you’re in the midst of changing up your skin care routine, always ensure the hydration aspect has been locked in first.

Belif, a Korean beauty label, glorifies its Hungarian Water Essence for the simple reason that it has been formulated with herbal extracts including Rosemary and Gotu Kola and contains no mineral oils, synthetic preservatives or alcohol. Additionally, there are no frills with this product – it only provides hydration instead of seeking to be a multi-tasking saviour.

Together with Napier’s Aqua formula (named after British herbalist, Duncan Napier), the water essence aims to increase the skin’s hydration by 20% upon application. Now, with those numbers we were definitely intrigued.

Our Verdict? It promised hydration and it absolutely delivered. Applying 2-3 pumps on our face and neck every morning and night resulted in a smooth and supple skin texture. Constant usage did also aid in enhancing the skin’s radiance, although it may be too soon to tell (we have only tested it for a week or so).

The essence is particularly ideal for those with normal, combination or oily skin as the light formula absorbs readily, leaves no sheen and provides adequate moisture to the skin. Whereas, if you have dry or dehydrated skin then this level of hydration may not quite be enough, although you could apply slightly more than those with a normal skin type.

Supposedly, the Hungarian Queen restored her youth with Hungarian water back in 1370 so if she loved it, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t!

Belif Hungarian Water Essence (75ml, approx. USD43.50) is available at all Belif stores and stockists around the region.
