FOTD: Sonam Kapoor at the Indian Film Festival Of Melbourne

Bollywood’s top stars looked show-stopping at the IFF 2015 Awards Night, but we couldn’t help but gush over Sonam Kapoors perfectly-executed makeup. Find out how to recreate the effortless yet sexy smokey eye with just a few steps.
As Melbourne, Australia hosted the Indian Film Festival over the past couple of weeks this August, spectators couldn’t wait to catch their favourite Bollywood stars making appearances at the red carpets. We were no different, looking out for the next beauty to be our FOTD star of the week!
Hindi film starlet Sonam Kapoor caught our eye and didn’t disappoint, turning heads in Australian designer Paolo Sebastian’s floor length lace-caped frock. She matched her dress with elegant oversized diamond studs and a sultry makeup look to boot.
To recreate her look, start with a liquid foundation. Our pick of the moment is the Too Faced Born This Way foundation, which looks undeniably natural in any light while still providing full, even coverage. Let it set while you move on to mimic Sonam’s full brows with a double-ended eyebrow pencil.
For eyeshadow, three colours are all you need for a dramatic smokey effect. Start with a grey shadow all over the lids as a base colour with a dense flat brush, before using a black sponge-tip shadow pen to apply onto the outer corners of both the upper and lower lash lines. Blend everything together with a short-bristled blending brush for better control, and use your pinky finger to dip into a bright, pearl-hued shadow and deposit lightly onto the inner corners or the eyes. If you haven’t been blessed with luscious lashes like our Bollywood star, curl them and apply an ultra-volumnizing mascara. Top off with full false eyelashes if need be, and you’re done for the eyes.
A light-reflecting dusty mauve blush and matching satin-finish lipstick are all you have left to apply and you’re ready for a glamorous evening out.
