Whether glamorous with rhinestones, edgy with studs or colourful and fun – trust us, there is a hair accessory for everyone!

When it comes to hair accessories, leave it to the Koreans to come up with the latest – and frankly most adorable – trends out there!

Taking inspiration from K-pop stars like SNSD’s Jessica, Yuri and Yoona and actresses Kim So Eun and Park Shin Hye, headbands, hair clips and ribbons are on our must-have accessory list for this season. Partly because, well, they look cute, but also they might be just the perfect accessory for our humid weather as they add a quirky touch to any outfit without the discomfort associated with jewellery.

But apart from the celebrities endorsing the hair accessories trend, we’ve also spotted fashionistas attending Seoul Fashion Week shows with everything from oversized bows to spiky headbands and the hottest of all – cat ears headbands!

Inspired by all these K- stylistas, we decided to give you the top 3 trends when it comes to accessorizing your hair and all the tips you need to know to take them on.

Not sure where to look? Our team at Marie France Asia has also picked the best – and most affordable – hair accessories from Qoo10 Singapore:

1- The quirky rubber band:The ponytail has been seen on so many celebrities and on numerous runways this season so needless to say, it is a must-try. But instead of leaving it plain and simple, try accessorizing your raised ponytail with a spiked ribbon to add a rock chic touch – or go princess all the way with a jewelled version to bring out your girly side. Day or night, there is certainly a rubber band for every occasion.

2- The headband: Headbands are the IT accessory this season, and with the vast styles available you will be spoilt for choice. We love the delicately spiked version which works very well with a casual jeans and t-shirt combo, and the pretty rhinestone one which will make you stand out in the crowd on any occasion. Our tip: Choose a subtle design which complements your outfit instead of overshadowing it or you’ll risk looking like you’ve just walked out a Halloween party!

3- Hair clips: Bad hair day? Hair clips are probably a girl’s best friend when it comes to camouflaging the not-so-perfect frizzy tresses after a long day in the humid weather. Also, it is an excellent way to sweep aside that fringe you’re trying to grow out – stylishly. We love the pearl encrusted variations and the cute bows which are suitable for everyday. Our tip: If you’re feeling adventurous, pile on two or three pins at once – all on the same side – for great girl-off-duty effortless look.
