Watch: 100 Years of Japanese beauty under 2 minutes

updated the 18 February 2016 à 16:00

From the Geisha look of the 1910s to the retro, old Hollywood updo of the 50s and the Harajuku glory of today, walk down Japan’s history of beauty right here.

If you thought the team at Cut was going to stop with their beauty evolution videos, think again. This time they’re back with yet another clip that goes into the world of Japan, starting from the traditional Geisha look in the 1910s.

Just like the 100 Years of Chinese Beauty video, this particular clip also shows how a myriad of global changes influenced the beauty looks in Japan. From the classic finger waves of the 20s to the old Hollywood updo of the 50s, all the way to the Harajuku flamboyance of present day, 2 minutes is all it takes to get a quick gist of how looks have changed throughout the years.

And even though you don’t get a narration of why a specific look is as such, the visual feast is more than enough.
