From bold blue eyes to sparkles and geometric nails, here’s how you would be doing your makeup next season!

Now that New York Fashion Week (NYFW) has come to a close, let’s take a minute to breathe. The various beauty looks sent down the runway were definitely nothing short of amazing. From dark lip shades to the actual no makeup look, here are the top 5 NYFW beauty trends that got us planning our future looks:

STATEMENT NAIL ART

Statement nail art designs were spotted on and off the runway. These ranged from funky geometric nail art designs to subtle glitter tips. Creating such designs are easier when you have some handy nail art tools on hand. For beginners, we would recommend having a dotting tool (to create dots and patterns), a white stripe brush nail polish (to create lines) and a fine nail art brush (to draw some simple strokes) in your kit. Practice makes perfect!

DARK LIP STATEMENT

Colours such as burgundy and brown were the most common lip colours on the models during NYFW. The lips were lined to perfection and had a relatively satin finish – not too matte nor glossy. To achieve such a precise lip application, a lip brush is recommended. Outline the lips with a lip pencil close to the actual lipstick bullet shade and fill in the lips using the brush. To clean up any patches, use a concealer.

BLUE EYES

Blue was a popular colour seen on the runway. From clothes to beauty, it was definitely making a statement. It was used as an all over lid colour, as a liner, on the eyelashes and even the waterline. Blue is such a versatile shade and looks flattering against many skin tones. When using the shade, opt for a pink blush or lip colour. If you are looking for a toned down alternative, go for a coral blush paired with a nude-pink lip.

NO MAKEUP-MAKEUP LOOK

This trend makes another comeback this season but only better. The models were seen with even lesser makeup, as they skipped the base routine but focused on ensuring a well moisturized canvas along with filled-in brows.

SPARKLE AWAY

The past season has been about muted shades – even matte bronzers were in. So imagine our excitement when we saw sparkles were everywhere this time. We’re not referring to big chunky glitter but a subtle wash of colour on the various parts of the face using highlighters. If you wish to draw light to face, add a light swipe of highlighter under your brow bone, inner corners, top of cupids bow and cheekbones.
