Looking for a perfect matte yet radiant complexion? Givenchy is here to help! We try - and give our verdict on - their latest Prisme Libre loose powder.

For those who strive for perfect, natural looking skin but - just like us - hate packing on the foundation, it is often hard to find the right products to rely on. However, with Givenchy’s latest edition of their Prisme Libre loose powder, a fresh-face can be achieved with just one stroke. Sounds too good to be true? We thought so too - that is until we tried and tested this ultra fine powder which does exactly what it says on the tin.

What is it? Available in three shades (Mousselline Pastel, Taffetas beige and Voile Rose), the Prisme Libre Loose Powder is smooth and velvety and when added to the skin, offers the perfect finishing touch. With just one veil of this lightweight powder, our skin appears to be matte and luminous at the same time.

The shades:

Mousseline Pastel: Those who enjoy perfect, fair skin should opt for Mousseline Pastel, a combination of 4 sugar-coated colours. The palette corrects discolouration while also covering imperfections, leaving the skin with a natural iridescence. The powder can be used all over the face for an even-toned complexion, or just under the eyes to offer a brightening effect.

Taffetas Beige: Those who like to rock a healthy glow without using numerous liquid foundations and cream bronzers should use Taffetas Beige to add a natural sun-kissed sheen to the skin. With the concoction of beiges, apricots and yellows- the skin will appear to have been invigorated by the sun's rays after a weekend away to your favourite island.

Voilè Rose: For those who want to look as though they aren't wearing makeup, but still want to achieve perfect peachy skin - Voilè Rose is the answer. With a cocktail of subtle pinks, this loose powder will  make even the most tired skin exude radiance.

How to use it?

There are four steps to mastering the application of Prisme Libre: unscrew the lid, turn the case over while holding the powder puff against the screen, shake three or four times and finally, apply the powder to your skin. Powder puff  or makeup brush? It really depends on your preferance but for us the powder puff did the job just fine!

Our verdict:

Puffing our faces with this loose powder after applying our favourite BB cream had us believing that indeed less is more. That is, instead of piling on a lot of products, applying a small dose of the right product can achieve the perfect result. The ultra fine texture of the powder was pleasant and didn't over-matte our skin or make it dull or cake-y like a lot of powders do. It certainly left us with  little glow - as opposed to shine which we're no big fans of.

However it was the effect of varying colour combinations which made all the difference: The subtle Mousseline Pastel did wonders when applied under the eyes and brightened up that area we dread most - while the Tafettas Beige added a much-needed natural looking radiance to our overall complexion. We couldn't ask for more!

Givenchy's Prisme Libre (approx. USD69) is available at all Givenchy makeup counters.
