Hair trend: Have you heard about babylights?

Ultra-natural and camera-friendly – the next time you’re heading to the hairdresser, ask for babylights instead of highlights.

Way back when, highlights were just highlights. Streaks of one, or a few different colours to give our hair a stylish lift. Not anymore as nowadays we have everything from highlights to lowlights, splashlights and even sombre (subtle ombre). And the next big thing will have you rushing to your trustee hairstylist.

Want ultra-natural looking tones that shine in pictures? Babylights is your answer. Celebrity hair colourist Jack Howard of the Neville Hair & Beauty Salon in London has become the master of the latest hair colour trend.

The whole process is quite simple – but pretty time-consuming too. The hair colourist takes teeny-weeny strands of your hair and applies colour to small groups at a time…yes, this could easily take a few hours depending on your hair type. But the result? a natural colour that looks like the hair you were born with.

“There’s a lot more root showing. With babylights, you can add a shimmer of color if you scatter them throughout — or, if you do it all over the head, it’s super delicate. It’s so fine, it looks like you were born with it,” explains the colourist.

The latest trend has been huge hit among celebrities – Karlie Kloss is the latest supermodel to give her hair the blonde babylights treatment.

Need some inspiration? We have taken on instagram to bring you the best babylights transformations. Enjoy!
