If you are into collecting beautiful makeup packaging, Sulwhasoo’s latest holiday release, Mother-of-Pearl Craft is bound to leave you spellbound.

Each year, the premium Korean skincare brand works with Korea artists to give them an opportunity to showcase their designs on the annual limited-edition ShineClassic Makeup series.

Started in 2003, this holiday release is always anticipated and often touted as a collector’s item. This year, it is no different. The ShineClassic Powder Compact and Multi Powder Compact Makeup will feature designs by accessory craft masters Lee Hyun Kyung, Koo Eun Kyung and Lee Hye Mi. The patterns on the beauty products draw inspiration from traditional Korean patterns, materials, and techniques for modern reinterpretation of Korean aesthetics. We are loving how they have taken the elegant glow and luxurious aesthetic of mother-of-pearl and given it a modern twist.

MOTHER OF PEARL CRAFT DESIGN

You’ll notice that the packaging does not only look pleasing to the eyes but to the touch as well. Mother-of-pearl petals are used as pieces of jewelry on the stamen. The cult Multi Powder Compact is engraved in various angles and shapes to draw attention to the rich texture. We appreciate how attention has been paid to the smallest of details. Each compact casing makes use of the traditional ‘line engraving’ technique to process the mother-of-pearl. The fine line patterns have been skillfully crafted using various knives and filled with colours to enhance the craft value.

So quite honestly, we’re just pining to get our hands on one of these compacts for our vanity.

Sulwhasoo Limited Edition ShineClassic Makeup 2015 is available island-wide from December 2015 onwards, and available while stocks last.
